Aerus Connects Cancun to Cozumel and Chetumal with new Daily Flights

On 14th May, Aerus celebrated its inaugural flight from Cancun to Cozumel, marking the commencement of daily service between the two cities.

This new route is part of Aerus’s broader initiative to enhance connectivity within Quintana Roo, which will soon include daily flights from Cancun to Chetumal and Chichén Itzá.

Governor Mara Lezama, who was aboard the first flight, praised the new routes for strengthening regional development and tourism. She highlighted the significance of these connections in promoting Quintana Roo as a hub of tourism and innovation in Mexico.

Filiberto Rafael Herrera Andrés, President of the Aerus Board, described the day as historic, emphasizing the recovery of vital air routes for the state.

Cozumel Mayor Juanita Alonso Marrufo welcomed the first flight and expressed gratitude for the confidence shown by private investors like Aerus in Cozumel’s potential as a tourist destination. She noted that Aerus’s operations center, which includes five aircraft and a unique private hangar, will boost the island’s appeal to visitors.

Aerus is set to operate 416 flights monthly across state airports, including those in Cancun, Cozumel, and Chetumal. Starting July 1, Aerus will offer seven weekly flights between Cancun and Mérida, in addition to the Cancun-Chetumal route, enhancing the overall connectivity of the region.

This initiative is expected to bolster tourism and foster economic growth in Quintana Roo, solidifying its status as a prime destination for both domestic and international travelers.
