As election day approaches, businesses in Cancun and Playa del Carmen are rolling out an array of incentives to encourage voter turnout.

From restaurants and theme parks to pharmacies and tour operators, a variety of establishments are offering freebies & special deals to those who exercise their right to vote.

Julio Villarreal, president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) in Quintana Roo, highlighted a nationwide campaign titled “Vote and We Give You Your Coffee.”

This initiative aims to foster civic engagement by offering tangible rewards. Many local businesses are adding their unique twists to this campaign, providing additional promotions to attract voters.

For instance, the restaurant Bubayou in Cancun is offering a 20% discount to diners who show their ink-stained finger, a symbol of having voted. Similarly, Pizzas & Grill Bar by Nicky’s in Playa del Carmen is providing a 10% discount on bills for voters.

Los Chilacos Prime, also in Playa del Carmen, is giving out complimentary shots to those who participate in the election.

Hotels and theme parks are also participating in the voter incentive program. Casa Kaoba, a hotel on the Playa-Tulum highway, is offering a 15% discount on day pass consumption.

Meanwhile, the renowned Bubba Gump restaurant chain is giving a 25% discount to patrons who demonstrate they have voted.

Cancun Jungle Tours presents a particularly attractive deal: voters only need to pay taxes (approximately $20) to enjoy their lagoon and snorkeling tours at Nichupté Lagoon.

Ventura Park is cutting ticket prices by 50% for various pass options, including one, fun, platinum, and VIP passes. Similarly, Isla Mujeres’ El Garrafón park is offering a 50% discount on admission for voters.

Additionally, Delphinus is providing a promotion where voters can access their Ride program for just 399 pesos.

The Interactive Aquarium Cancun, located in La Isla Plaza, is granting free entry to those who show their ink-stained finger, while Crococun, situated on the Puerto Morelos-Cancun highway, is offering a 25% discount on admission for voters who pay in cash.

These efforts come amid concerns from Riviera Maya entrepreneurs that the election campaign has negatively impacted hotel occupancy rates, as political activities have slowed tourist movements.
